Poor Layla...

Layla has become my official "tester" of baby products. I received a Swaddle blanket in the mail today and decided that I needed to test it out...but a baby doll wouldn't work, I had to use something that was live and wiggly...so I turned to Layla :)

We're Baaaaack!

Well I'm back!! Rome was absolutely incredible! I am so glad we were able to go! I think we did and saw everything we wanted to and then some! It was A LOT of walking. We were out of the hotel by 9 in the morning and then back around 10 each night, so we were non-stop! By the end of the trip my feet were so swollen that I was having a hard time getting them into my sneakers. They have started to go down now but are still too big for some of my shoes. I feel like I have elephantitis of the feet! Baby did really good the whole time - she is constantly moving now it seems, and was especially active on the take-off and landing of our flights!

Joe and I also ordered our nursery furniture the day we left for the trip. We got the following crib and dresser in Cherry. I can't wait till it gets here!!

The end of the second trimester!

This is the final week of the 2nd trimester! Only 3 more months until D-day!! Everything's still going good, baby's moving a lot and I'm feeling great! We've got a name - but don't even think about asking cause it's a surprise!! Here are a couple pictures for the week. I still don't feel or really look too huge but some things are getting harder to do...like tie my shoes and bend over to pick up the dogs!

26 weeks

Tomorrow we leave for Rome for a week!! I'll make sure to post some pictures when we get back! Keep us and Baby in your prayers!!

Less than 18 weeks!

We're past the halfway point! We only have 18 weeks left till we meet our little girl! We're excited, overwhelmed, nervous and excited all at the same time!! We just want to see her already!!

This past weekend we took a drive up to Virginia to see some friends of ours - Chris and Erica Cleghorn and thier adorable son Noah!! We brought the dogs with us and it was quite interesting to see how they reacted around "a little person". They did pretty good after being chased, hugged and loved non-stop :) Layla really loved that Noah was so close to the ground that she could take things right out of his hands - they both looooved the mat under Noah's seat :) It was like non-stop treat weekend!

On Saturday we all went to Jamestown and walked around enjoying the warmer weather and the history. It is so beautiful there! It was a long day but we had a lot of fun!

So baby is starting to really grow! She is very active in there and I actually look forward to her 'nap times' as it gives my body a break from all the kicks! Of course I'm sure it doesn't help that I pack her full of sugar since I don't seem to crave anything healthy nowdays! Cookies and ice cream just sound so much better for dinner than veggies and meat!

Sugar and Spice!!!

IT'S A GIRL!!

Today Joe and I found out that we're having a girl!! She was a little hesitant to show "the goods" but after a little poking and prodding she willingly gave it up!! (we're a little worried about how easily she gives in :) Her little heartbeat was at 152 and the tech said that everything looked and measured great! It was the neatest experience ever to be able to see her that way! We were even able to see her eating! It's nice to be able to finally know since we were getting a little weirded out by calling her 'it'!!

Everything else is doing good too. I have another doctor's appt tomorrow to talk about traveling and our trip to Rome! It's going to be a lot of walking so the doc just wanted to be able to go over some things to prepare me!

Here are some pictures of our baby girl!!

Happy New Year!!

Happy New Year to everyone! Hope you had a great holiday! Joe and I packed our week full of vacation and visits to family. We spent Christmas in Gatlinburg with his family and then drove over to Hiawassee, GA to see my granparents and extended family. It was a lot of fun but exhausting and it's good to be home.

I'm almost 18 weeks and everything with the pregnancy is going good so far, I've even been feeling some kicks!! I felt the first ones just before Christmas and since then I feel them all the time. Baby loves (or hates, I can't decide) when I drink something cold. We haven't been able to feel them on the outside yet but hopefully soon - I hate that Joe's missing out on this part!

Only 21 more days till we find out the gender! We're getting more and more excited and I think the next 3 weeks are going to be the longest ever!

Here are some belly shots - remember the camera adds 10 pounds ;)

The end of the first trimester

Today officially marks the start of the 2nd trimester! Crazy to think we made it through the first! Thank God it was a pretty easy 13 weeks - no morning sickness, not too much nausea and the exhaustion wasn't too bad! We had our appt with the doctor on Dec. 10th just for a checkup, baby had a heartbeat of 155 and was moving around like crazy! We set a date for the gender ultrasound and it's Jan. 22nd!! Thankfully we have the holidays to keep us occupied until then. Doctor also gave us the ok for all travel, including going to the Virgin Islands to see my mom in February and then to Rome in March!! Fingers crossed that nothing goes wrong and we're able to keep those trips scheduled!!

Joe and I went to Florida for Thanksgiving - it was a pretty easy trip and not too many stops for bathroom breaks :) People thought my bladder was bad before, it's even worse now!

Here's a 13 week belly pic...not much of a change but there's some. I'm having a hard time buttoning my pants (I tried to fit into a pair of my pre-pregnancy skinny-jeans this weekend - HA! That didn't happen, I felt like a sausage :) So every now and then I break out the maternity jeans just to give myself some comfort!

9 weeks and counting!

Today is officially 9 weeks! My pants are starting to get tighter and the little blob is now at 2 cm! We were able to see the blob again at our appt yesterday. He has little buds and a big ole head (we were reassured by the doc that his body will catch up :) He was moving around and his little heartbeat was at 180 bpm!

Here's a picture of Joe trying to act like he's the one going through all the body changes *rolleyes*

Our First Glimpse!

It was definitely love at first sight! On October 12th we were able to not only see our little blob but also hear the little heartbeat!! It was an emotional time for us as I had been having some complications with the pregnancy and was under close watch by my doc. It was an amazing sound and at 6 weeks, 1 day the little blob's heart rate was 123 beats per minute. Such a beautiful sound!!

I also took a "before" shot (I was already 5 weeks!) so I could always remember that pre-pregnancy bod! :)

Joe + Chrissie = Baby!!

The morning of September 27th I woke up to a funny feeling. Running to the bathroom I ripped open the cabinet, tore into the package and proceeded to pee on a stick :) I watched as not one but two little lines came up...thinking it had to be wrong I peed on another stick - this time one that actually spelled the words out! Within seconds a beautiful word came up...PREGNANT! I couldn't believe my eyes! Then came the decision - do I wait till after work and tell Joe the sweet, creative way I had planned or do I go wake him up and share the news now? Shaking and not thinking properly, I decided I couldn't wait!! I woke Joe up, told him I had something for him and then flipped the light on while shoving the pee-stick in his face. Stunned, shocked, confused, excited, we both couldn't believe it. We were in shock for most of the day as it slowly started to sink in. We still can't believe it! We're having a baby!!!
